The last several months have been AMAZING !
You wouldn’t know it because I’ve been sick like a dog for over a week and when i “shut down”, i completely go off the grid. It’s not you…it’s me.
Welcome back to the newsletter after a month-long tumble in the land of sniffles and chills.
You probably don’t know this but i’ve been writing a public “journal” since the 90s. A lot of my ramblings since then are on my website. I’ve also been saving everything i find in OBSIDIAN.
So back to the AMAZING parts…
Did you know that i have 3 fathers ?
Well anyway….my REAL father (the 3rd), visited me in Paris; against all odds.
There we are. Say what you will. The DNA tests don’t lie.
This was day one and things only got better from there.
Note: It turns out that i’m not the only “cranky” person in Paris. Roby points it out all the time that I’m not always nice/polite…. and he is (usually) right. But… it turns out that my personality is NOT my fault. 😜
i did a 7 day custom tour for them that i’m really proud of…we started on a bus tour and went to the top of Montparnasse Tour.
i took them to the Louvre and within <2 hours, we were in and out. We did the Mona Lisa, all the MASSIVE French paintings that i love, and the greek/roman marble statues.
We did a boat tour of the Seine. During the day, it was hot as hell.
We drove to the D-day beaches (on the same day as the governor of Arkansas). My father’s father was there on that day in June 1944. I REALLY hate talking about or even learning about “war history” because i’m a bleeding-heart pacifist…but i will always cry when talking about the men/women who serve and who are treated like shit by the government.
Our Overlord guide was amazing. We were there for the daily TAPS and he guided us toward the medal of honor marker.
For the first time, after decades in Paris, i did the Moulin Rouge…
Did you know that there are NO PHOTOS when you enter ? Obviously, i have tons of photos but we’ll not talk about them.
We shot off to London on the Eurostar for their last two days. London was spectacular and i’m surprised by how much i loved it. Here’s my favorite photo to end this post.
After one week of me dragging my dad across France, he was still standing: and doesn’t seem to hate me. He fell in love with my husband, who wouldn’t, and we had a group hug just before he left France.

What an adventure! We were in London during the beginning of the heatwave too!
The photos are lovely- thank you for sharing.
